The story it completes follows the fan work "The Price of Remembering" by frypatch / TacticalDo. The plot, the reveals, and the shape of every ending are theirs, kept faithfully from first page to last. Almost none of the sentences are — this is a full retelling, built scene by scene atop that foundation, in a voice of its own.
The prose was drafted with help from Claude Fable 5 by Anthropic, working over many hours with one very stubborn reader.
